Point System Core PE 9th Grade

This is a participation class involving 4 different activities per semester: The activities are
Tennis (6 weeks), volleyball (4 weeks), basketball (4 weeks), & gymnastics (4 weeks).
This is a one semester course, worth 1/4 credit. Classes meet every other day and
alternate Fridays..

Basic skills rules, and strategies along with cooperation, team work and leadership, are
important goals & expectations for this course.

GRADING

This course is traditionally graded (A,B,C,D,F). Parents have the option to choose
whether the grade will count toward the Grade Point Average or not!

The Grading System is a 10 point per class system:
	1. Following directions (appropriate dress, cooperation, & leadership) =4 pts.
	2. Participation (physical effort, demonstration of skills & knowledge pertinent to
	each activity) =3 pts.
	3. Be on Time = 3 pts.

RE: Tardiness : 1st tardy = warning, 2nd tardy = -2pts., 3rd & all subsequent tardies = -
3pts. Being on time is very important in all classes, but especially in activity classes such
as this one!

Unexcused absences count as a "0" for the day and cannot be made up. these absences
most commonly lead to a class failure.

Appropriate dress would be any "activity" clothing that has not been worn to school, that
is safe & provides for "free" movement.
