
Mr. Obler has a masters degree in health and physical education from Souther Illinois University and has taught at La Follette for 20 years. In addition, to his department chair responsibilities, Mr. Obler also teaches 9th grade health education and weight training in the junior/senior elective program. Mr. Obler presently coaches varsity football and coordinates the CrimeStoppers program.
Mr. Fargen has a masters degree in special education, emotional disabilities (UW-Madison) and a bachelors degree in physical education (UW-La Crosse). He taught physical education at Sennett Middle School for seven years prior to La Follette. He has received two Wisconsin Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (WAHPERD) awards, the Service Award in 1993 and the Citation Award in 1996. In 1995 he also received the Distinguished Teacher of Teachers Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education for his work with practicum and student teachers. Mr. Fargen primarily teaches 9th grade physical education, and the junior/senior social dance elective section. When not coaching the Lancer mens rugby club or varsity football, he is often found staring blankly into the screen of a computer monitor attempting to program html.
Mrs. Ganshert has taught at La Follette for over 20 years. She primarily teaches 9th grade health education and Lifesaving/ CPR in the junior/senior elective program. During her tenure at La Follette Mrs. Ganshert has coached Girls Athletic Association, and volleyball, in addition she has assisted on many student activity committees.
Mr. Neumann is the newest member to the department, he has an 80% contract and is teaching primarily in the 9th and 10th grade sections. Mr. Neumann quickly adopted that lancer spirit by volunteering as assistant varsity football coach, where he worked with the defensive backs. Mr. Neumann is originally from Shawno Wisconsin, and he graduated from UW-Madison in May '98. Again welcome to Mr. Neumann - and keep up the good work!!!
Mr. Palmiter has a masters degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Outdoor Education from U.W.-LaCrosse. He has worked in the Madison School District for ten years, and at La Follette High School for the past six years. Steve has an extensive background in outdoor pursuits and coordinates the Lancer Rock Climbing Club at Boulders Gym. He also guides summer adventure trips to Isle Royale National Park for interested students. He is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and is the boys varsity swim coach at La Follette.
Mrs. Wiggins was born and raised in Titletown, USA. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1971, after competing in Badminton, Field Hockey, Tennis, and Basketball. She was on the original UW Women's Basketball team in 1968. She began teaching at La Follette in 1971 and coached the first girls teams in tennis, volleyball, softball, and basketball. While coaching the girls she led them to four conference basketball titles and one State basketball appearance. Mrs. left coaching in 1980 to have two wonderful daughters and has recently begun coaching tennis again.
She enjoys teaching ALL physical education activities, particularly the tenth grade curriculum consisting of tennis, weight training, swimming, floor hockey, volleyball and basketball. She began teaching aerobics many years ago and really loves; doing exercise routines, weight lifting, and water aerobics.
Mrs. Wiggins coordinates the La Follette Lancer Pride Program which rewards students for their academic achievement, good attendance and punctuality. She is responsible for the many incentives, rewards and discounts that local businesses have contributed to the students who have achieved Lancer Pride.
