Health & Physical Education Course Offerings




Graduation Requirements

The state mandated graduation requirement for health education is 1/2 credit, which is fulfilled during the 9th grade. The state mandated graduation requirement for physical education is 1 1/2 credits. All 9th and 10th grade students are required to take the "core curriculum" courses for 1/2 credit each. 11th and 12th grade students are required to take one elective course for 1/2 credit. Upon fulfilling the 1 1/2 credit requirement, students are encouraged to enroll in additional courses of their choice.

GPA Inclusion/Exclusion

Students can choose to have their grade included or excluded in their "GPA". All students grades are included in the GPA by default. If a student wishes have their grade excluded from the GPA, a "GPA Exclusion" form must be filed in the Guidance Office prior to 4:00pm on Friday of the second week of the term. Students who opt for "GPA Exclusion" will receive a "Pass/Fail" grade. Passing grades are equivalent to letter grades of "A, B or C", a letter grade of "D" is considered a failure. "Pass/Fail" grades do not influence the overall grade point average.
