The LaFollette
Capital Fund
It was one year ago that La Follette High School held
a well attended re-dedication of the August Vander Meulen auditorium
to celebrate the renovation of the seats that was funded solely by
the La Follette Capital Fund. The auditorium was full of parents,
students, alumni, donors, faculty, and school and Foundation for
Madison’s Public Schools officials to celebrate and recognize this
accomplishment. Thank you for your help in making this possible. The
renovated seats are fantastic looking, comfortable and provide a
refined look to the auditorium; a job well done by Designer’s Choice
Upholstery, owned by Don Severson (class of 1977).
We continue to raise funds to cover the remaining costs of the
auditorium seat renovation as well for new projects. We will work
with classes that have summer reunions and also alumni, community
leaders, and other supporters. Although we have completed the seat
renovation, we are continuing to sell seats with a dedication to a
student, family member, teacher or friend on an engraved brass
plaque.
There are several new projects that we are hoping to support. They
include equipment for World Languages, smart board teaching tools
for the Math department, and improving the lighting capabilities in
the August Vander Meulen auditorium.
We have a new option available for current and future students at La
Follette High School. You can purchase a seat plaque to honor your
son or daughter and pay using the installment plan, so that by the
time your student graduates, they will have a seat in his/her name.
Here’s how it works:
-
Freshman student: 4 payments of $60
each, one payment made each year of high school
-
Sophomore student: 3 payments of $75
each, one payment made each year for 3 years
-
Junior student: 2 payments of $110
each, one payment made each year for 2 years
-
Senior student: 1 payment of $200 (no
installment plan)
Each payment made will result in your
son/daughter’s name being listed in the glass display case next to
the Vander Meulen Auditorium. When all payments have been made, a
beautiful brass plaque will be placed on one of the auditorium
chairs with the inscription of your choice.
