Introduction to Art
|
This
course is a designed as a basic overview of the world of art.
Two-dimensional art is explored through directed drawing,
painting, and printmaking experiences.
Three-dimensional art is investigated through sculpture.
Art history and art appreciation are also included. |

Art Metals (1-4)
|
Art Metals is a class that lets you design and construct jewelry and various types of other designs. In this class the tools
demonstrated are sawing, filing, polishing, soldering, and casting. Many
different materials are used in this class including metals, stone, wood and plastics. |

Ceramics (1-4)
|
This course
will enable students to develop the skills and techniques involved
in the design and construction of ceramics.
Sculpture, hand-building, the pottery wheel, and surface
decoration are some of the processes to be explored.

Drawing (1-4) |
An excellent course for
those with an interest in improving their drawing skills. Directed drawing exercises will include contour, shading,
two-point perspective, grid drawing, mass, and representational
space. A variety of
drawing media will be used, including but not limited to: pencil,
charcoal, pen and ink, pastels, and conte. |

Painting (1-4)
|
This course makes use of the
various elements of drawing and design in introducing a variety of
painting techniques in media such as watercolor, tempera, and
acrylic polymers. Matting pictures, stretching and framing canvas and other
supplemental activities are demonstrated.
The history of painting and its present day relationships are
discussed.

Printmaking (1-2) |
This course strongly anchored in design principles and
will introduce the student to a variety of printmaking methods.
Techniques in silkscreen will enable students to make wall
hangings, T-shirt designs, and tapestries.
Other printmaking methods and their history, such as relief
printing, mono printing, and intaglio, will also be explored. |
