Vision and Purpose of MMSD District Library Media Services

"An effective information and technology program for students will foster an enjoyment of the pursuit of knowledge. The joy of reading, the pleasures of the written word, and the power of digital resources and learning tools can capture the imaginations and motivation of young people as they strive to do their very best on their journey to lifelong learning."

The Mission of MMSD District Library Media Services:

* Develop and implement strategic plans, policies and procedures for district school library media programs.
* Advise district administrators and staff on issues regarding information access (including purchase, organization and distribution of materials) and best practices in school-based information literacy programming.
* Provide access to and assistance in the use of a collection of professional resources (Educational Reference Collection).
* Provide Madison Metropolitan School District staff with access to and assistance in the use of a collection of preview materials (Instructional Materials Selection Center).
* Support building administrators and staff in the pursuit of excellence in Library Media Center programming .
