Room 12 has been discussing different animal adaptations, such as mimicry, migration, hibernation, protective coloring, body covering,
chemical defense, special mouthparts, etc. They discussed different kinds of bird beaks and how they help birds survive in their environment. Ms. Seguin set up stations for pairs of students to rotate through.

Each station had 3 different tools that represented a different type of bird beak function. Each station had a special type of "food" that fit one type of beak.
Each pair had to decide which tool would best get the food at each station. For example, at one station the pair had to decide if an eye dropper, small fishnet, or large scoop would be the best "beak" to get "nectar" from a tall thin vase representing nectar in a flower.
