Dave Spitzer and his fourth graders hosted first graders from Lapham Elementary on the first day of Spring. Lapham teacher Ken Swift and his students were making their first visit to the school forest. Room 24's students had made multiple field studies to the forest since the first of the year, and this was their chance to act as guides for the newcomers. The photos recount a beautiful spring morning, with some of the stops along the way, in the group led by Mr. Swift. Mr. Spitzer led another hike in a different area of the forest.

Our first trip this year was for an overnight. The day was cool and mostly sunny. It rained a little when we went to bed in our tents, but then it cleared up and the temperature dropped so much there was frost on our tents and in the grass when we woke up!
