Excused Absence for Physical or Mental Reasons
The BOARD may excuse a student if the student is temporarily not in proper physical or
mental condition to attend school or an educational program, but who can be expected
to return to attend school or the program upon termination or abatement of the illness or
condition.

Excused Absence for Physical or Mental Reasons
- The purpose of excusing a student from attending school or an educational
program shall be to afford the student the opportunity to adjust physically,
mentally, or emotionally to the school environment.
- The PRINCIPAL or his/her designee shall request the parent or guardian of the
student to obtain a written statement from a licensed physician, dentist,
optometrist, licensed psychologist, licensed chiropractor, or Christian Science
practitioner living and residing in this state, who is listed in the Christian Science
Journal as sufficient proof of the physical or mental condition of the student.
- An excused absence under this Policy shall be in writing and shall state
the time period for which it is valid.
- The time period for an excused absence under this Policy shall not
exceed thirty (30) days.
