Human Resources

Health Examinations

  1. Scheduling Health Examinations:
    1. If specified, the Human Resources Department may arrange for the physical examination with one of the clinics which has a financial agreement with the District. After the examination has been completed, the clinic shall provide the results of the examination to the Human Resources Department. The results of the examination shall indicate whether or not the employee is fit to perform the job under consideration, whether the employee is free from tuberculosis and any other illness that could jeopardize the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors to the school.
  2. Condition of Employment:
    1. A physical examination, including a chest x-ray or a tuberculin test is required of all employees unless an employee files an affidavit with the Human Resources Department that sets forth (1) that the employee depends exclusively upon prayer or spiritual means for healing in accordance with the teachings of a bona fide religious sect, denomination, or organization, (2) that to the best of her/his knowledge, he/she is in good health and (3) the employee claims exemption from health examination on those grounds.
    2. Notwithstanding the filing of such affidavit, the BOARD may still require health examinations if there is reasonable cause to believe that an employee is suffering from an illness detrimental to the health of students. The examination of such employee shall be sufficient to indicate whether or not the employee is suffering from such illness.
    3. No employee may be discriminated against by reason of filing such an affidavit.
    4. The cost of the examinations will be paid for from BOARD monies up to the amounts arranged for with appropriate medical facilities.
