Human Resources

A former employee of the Madison School District (the "District") who has worked in the District as an Administrator for at least seven years and who resigns in good standing as a District Administrator may, for a seven-year period from the effective date of his/her resignation, apply and receive an interview for all vacant Administrative positions for which such former Administrator is qualified. The former Administrator shall be interviewed by the hiring authority during the final interview procedure.

Should such former Administrator, after the interview, be selected to fill the vacant Administrative position, and the former Administrator accepts the District's offer of employment to fill the vacant Administrative position and the Board approves the former Administrator's employment as an Administrator with the District, the District shall (1) restore to the former Administrator's sick leave account, which are the sick days, if any, the person accumulated while he/she previously worked as an Administrator for the District and had in the account on the effective date of his/her resignation, (2) place the former Administrator at the same grade level on the salary schedule as the Administrative position he/she is filling, (3) place the former Administrator at the step on the salary schedule that is no less than the step that he/she was at on the effective date of the former Administrator's resignation, and (4) reinstate the former Administrator into the Administrator Retirement Plan (ARP) at the point he/she was at on the effective date of the former Administrator's resignation, if the former Administrator was in the ARP on the effective date of his/her resignation.

Good standing is defined as a person who had a majority of satisfactory ratings on his/her last evaluation as a District Administrator, was not forced to resign, was not dismissed from his/her employment with the District, and no disciplinary action was taken against the employee while the employee previously worked as an Administrator in the District.
