Schenk Elementary Homepage

Please join us in welcoming the new principal of Schenk Elementary
Dr. Emmett Durtschi

Dear Members of the Schenk Elementary Community,

It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you as the new principal of Schenk Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead and be of service to the wonderful students, parents, faculty, and community members of the Schenk community. I look forward to meeting each of you and continuing on in the footsteps of those who have come before me.

I have heard many fantastic things about Schenk Elementary School regarding academic success, student engagement, parent involvement, and faculty commitment. I am eager to jump into the positive culture of the school and witness your successes for myself. You will find that I enjoy keeping things light and positive and approach things optimistically. Although I may come across quiet and observant at first, please approach me and get to know me. I value personal connections and collaboration and am eager to work with each of you.

By way of introduction, I was born and raised in the great Pacific Northwest. After leaving Seattle, I also lived in Utah, Germany, Seattle (again) and Madison. I currently live in Madison with my wife and two daughters, ages 6 and 2. My oldest daughter just finished her kindergarten year at Orchard Ridge Elementary. I finished my PhD in educational leadership from the UW-Madison in 2005 and have been working for the past 5 years in the Sun Prairie Area School District in a leadership capacity working with early childhood to 5th grade students with disabilities.

I want each of you to know how excited I am to soon be a part of your school community and rub shoulders with you. I look forward to working together to provide each child with the best education possible.

Thank you for your support,

Sincerely,

Dr. Emmett Durtschi
