Have an idea about what you want to do after high school, but not sure how to go about getting started? LetÕs focus on your future! In this class we will help you define and plan the means to achieve your educational and career goals. Through a variety of class activities, including self-reflection, career assessment, and research, students will develop a portfolio containing such documents as school admission forms, job applications, resume, letters of recommendation, etc., to help them move on to their chosen career path.
Surviving After High School 135-240 This course is treated as a business course. Its main content is personal finance. We deal with budgeting, planning, and keeping track of money. Topics include tax preparation, selecting a financial institution, renting an apartment, buying a car, insurance, and credit cards. There is also information on legal rights and responsibilities, including open housing laws, and general consumer awareness, such as avoiding scams.
Surviving after High School WhatÕs next? In this course, we will learn, research, and share strategies for conducting the practical business of our lives: jobs, money management, finding an apartment, filing income tax forms, obtaining and maintaining transportation, feeding yourself in a healthy and economical manner, and other topics will be covered.

If you were ever curious about how the graphics end of the Internet is created, this is the class for you. The potential for self employment or web page entrepreneurship starts with this class. MacromediaÕs FreeHand, Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks will be used.
Exploring Careers & The World of Work 135-360 DonÕt know what you want to do with the rest of your life? Take this class and explore your options! We will explore a wide variety of career options, at all levels of education and training. You will develop your own personal portfolio which is intended to provide an opportunity for you to showcase your skills, abilities, values, and dreams for your future. This portfolio will begin to provide you with a collection of materials to use for college entrance or for entering the world of work and life.
The Buck Starts Here Are you having trouble getting a different job or even getting a call back from a company after you apply? There are proven ways to find and get the job that you want, and how you go about applying may determine whether or not you get it. In this class you will learn how to be self-sufficient in looking for a job. You will learn how to fill out job applications that stand out from others, write a letter of application, create your own resume, brush up on interviewing skills and focus on how to hold that job. Students will also explore several career opportunities and narrow their search to three specific fields. Take this course and find out where the jobs are and how to get them!
