| Weight Training/Fitness | Students in this class will develop their own individualized weight training and/or fitness programs. The programs are then used to try and attain personal fitness goals. Repeating this class requires the consent of the instructor, and priority is given to seniors lacking P.E. credits. |

Stress Challenge Service Learning |
This is a service-learning phy ed class. We will play cooperative games,
practice problem solving, discuss choices, build trust and take risks. This
is an experiential education class where we get involved in all of the above
plus more. Group process is very important. Each person will be asked to
participate to a high degree, stay connected to the group and be challenged
around personal issues. Eventually we will be ready to face adventures,
such as canoeing, caving, ropes course, rock climbing and anything else
we dare to think up, with complete confidence. Semester Class. |
| Yoga | This class is an introduction to Hatha Yoga, which includes postures, breathing techniques, and meditation. Yoga is a millenia-old system of stretching and strengthening, bequeathed to us by the Hindu culture of India. Yoga aims at physical, psychological and spiritual balance, promotes flexibility and reduces stress. Wear sweats or shorts for free movement, must be willing to work seriously on postures, but all who are willing are welcome. |
| Nothing but Nets | Skill work and game play in several net sports including: badminton, table tennis, pickleball, and volleyball. Low level emphasis on competition. |

Eco Leadership Service Learning |
Part of PGT Project Green Teen TRIP CLASS. Students who enroll in this
class will automatically be in 4th qtr TRIP CLASS with Tina, Robert and
Martha. For 3rd qtr students will register in this class and also, automatically,
be enrolled in Martha s 6th hr of The Art of Cooking Class (or vice versa).
3rd Qtr Eco leadership class will focus on group building activities, communication
and basics of fly fishing. Students enrolling in this course will be paving
new ground for Shabazz Trip Classes. Because we have put together an integrated
curriculum for 4th qtr Trip, students who register this quarter automatically
will have their classes registered for 4th qtr. It will consist of 2 hrs
a day of science, 1 hr of hands on math, 1 hr of English to support our
research and service work, 1 hr of PE and 1 hr of The Art of Cooking with
Martha. (AN ADDITIONAL .25 credit will be earned in PE during our trip out
of school in May.) Yes this is confusing, SEE the ATTACHED sheet to better
understand how this trip class will be structured. If you still have questions
talk to Tina, Robert, or Martha. Most importantly, you will have a lot of
fun learning and LOVE IT! |
| Hoop It Up | This class covers the basics of basketball from ball handling, passing, shooting, positions, skill developmenht, team development, creation of plays, games and tournaments. |
| Open PE | Throughout the quarter we participate in a variety of physical education
activities. The activities include: Volleyball, Badminon, Table Tennis,
Weight Lifting, Basketball, Speedball, and Scatterdodge to name a few. Each
day the students vote on which activity we will be playing. Effort and participation
are REQUIRED and willingness to try new activities is appreciated. |
| Lifetime Games | Throughout the quarter we partifcipae in a variety of physical education
activities. The activities include: Soccer(Indoor and outdoor), speedball,
capture the flag, ultimate Frisbee, and golf to name a few. Effort and participation
are required and willingness to try new activities is appreciated. |
