The district and MTI have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding concerning compensation for teachers who teach professional development courses in addition to their regular assignment. The main points are as follows:

  1. Teachers who do not teach professional development courses as part of their regular duties, but teach same in addition to their regular assignment, will be paid Extended Contract for each hour of instruction so performed if the course is taught after the teacher's normal work day or during the summer recess.
  2. The teachers referenced above will be paid Extended Contract rate for one hour of preparation for each hour of instruction.
  3. This only applies to instruction of all or part of an organized course that has been approved by the Joint MIT/MMSD Professional Advancement Credit committee.
