School and Community Mental Health Prevention and Treatment Intervention Services

Positive Behavior Support Team (PBST)

All elementary and middle schools have access to teams comprised of an MMSD social worker or psychologist, a teacher with special skills in working with children with serious behavior problems, and a mental health specialist (from the Mental Health Center of Dane County, MHCDC.) These teams provide short-term interventions to stabilize the child's behavior, and helps the child's family establish a plan and team structure to provide ongoing care and support.
