Search Tips to Remember

Seven (or so) Habits of Highly Effective Searchers

Know what you are looking for before you begin so that you will recognize it when you find it.

Choose unique, specific keywords.

Use results to refine search terms.

Don't rely on just one search tool.
Remember that each search tool is unique, with individual strengths and weaknesses.
Remember, also, that many search tools allow complex/advanced searches.

Don't forget to try a natural language query.

Human touch may make a difference.
(Yahoo, Open Directory, Yahooligans)

Read the instructions for the search tools that you use a lot.
Look for a "Help" or "?" icon

Expect changes.

Know when to look elsewhere -- what you seek may be found in your library.
