Atacama Desert (Water Innovations: Chile's Camanchaca)
http://drylands.nasm.edu:1995/camanchaca/
Have you ever wondered how people get their water in the desert? This site has a detailed description of how the people of Caleta Ghungungo, Chile, use fog nets to collect a good supply of water from their regular fog on the nearby hills. It includes high quality photographs showing how this feat was accomplished, as well as links to information on other drylands.

Atacama Desert
http://www.geo.arizona.edu/news/F98/atacama.html
This site has information that was collected by a group of researchers from the University of Arizona, and was published in the University's newsletter. It is a wonderful site if you want to find out about the climate of the Atacama desert, but it has very few photographs. It was published in the fall of 1998. This site also has a link to many other great university articles.

Social Studies classrooms. Students find, evaluate and recommend Internet
resources related to the curriculum. This project is supported by MMSD's
Teaching and Learning Department and Library Media Services.
These Internet resources were evaluated on the basis of Site Selection
Guidelines. Questions and comments regarding specific sites can be sent
to the classroom teachers listed with the student author and school.
