The KIDS Report's goals are to provide a model to:
Develop research and evaluation skills of students
Promote information literacy by encouraging students to develop lifelong skills in evaluating information/media, accessing resources, and organizing information.
Encourage students to hone critical thinking skills through the development of their own selection criteria.
Help students learn how to efficiently retrieve valuable resources (mine information) from an overload of material.
Help students refine writing skills through site annotation.
Integrate the Internet into the curriculum
Use the Internet in a K-12 environment in a manner which provides a process for dealing with "information overload."
Encourage student interest in and knowledge of academic content on the Web.
Enable students to become authorities of information available on the Web.
Create a usable product for K-12 students and teachers everywhere
Provide students with a source for Web sites that are not only interesting and fun but also useful in their studies and, ideally, encourage them toward new interests.
Provide teachers with pre-selected and reviewed Web sites for classroom use.
Offer teachers print and online staff development resources.
