Overview - Welcome

Welcome to the 1999-2000 KIDS Report Project! The purposes of this handbook are to provide an overview of the project, to offer support materials and resources, and to share information about participating schools and the KIDS advisory committee. For those of you who participated last year, some information has been updated in this year's handbook. You may want to replace the old with the new. We hope the content will be useful to all of you.

The KIDS Report project provides students with the opportunity to become engaged in the research and evaluation of Web sites. Students use their knowledge and skills to develop an authentic real-world product: an annotated report. The KIDS Report also facilitates the integration of the Internet into the curriculum. In the previous three years, students have demonstrated their abilities to develop effective evaluation criteria and to author informative annotations after participating in this project.

This year we have 15 diverse schools from around the world participating. We are excited about the possibilities for the future as you and your students work together to help create a product that benefits students everywhere. We welcome your input and suggestions.
