Library of Student Recommended Sites

A collection of student-evaluated and summarized sites. As part of Internet Detectives, students learn to evaluate critically and summarize what they find on the Internet, while also learning about the content and design of Web sites. Each review is linked to the site that it describes and is related to the classroom curriculum.

Information about the goals, background, Web site organization and successes of Internet Detectives.

Participants

Lists of the names of participating teachers, librarians, learning coordinators and technology resource teachers.

Resources

Links to online resources for teachers and librarians who are working with students on Internet Detectives. Topics include evaluation, search strategies, search tools and writing summaries of Web site contents.

What's New

Highlights additions to the Library of Student Recommended Sites so that visitors can identify them easily.

Publishing Schedule

A list of the topics scheduled for investigation during the current school year, and the teacher(s) whose students will be taking part in these Internet Detectives projects.

Certificate

Teachers can download and print this certificate, intended for students who have successfully completed the Internet Detectives process. (Note: requires Adobe Acrobat)

MMSD Electronic Library

A link to the Electronic Library, which provides links to World Wide Web resources selected for the staff and students of the Madison (Wisconsin) Metropolitan School District. Librarians in MMSD's Instructional Materials Selection Center and Educational Reference Library have evaluated these resources.
