Procedure for Rotation of Tubs
- Place shipping label on tub.
- Call Linda Martin (204-7900) at Building
Services to pick up the tub and deliver it to the next school.
- At the end of the year, the last school stores the tub and becomes the first school on the rotation
for the next year.
Rotation Schedules
3 Rotations
- September 4, 2007 to November 21, 2007
- November 26, 2007 to February 22, 2008
- February 25, 2008 to June 13, 2008*
* The last school in the rotation should store the tub over the summer to begin the rotation next year.
AlphaSmart Daily Care and Upkeep
- Clear all files when finishing up keyboarding practice sessions.
- Shut off the AlphaSmart using switches at the back of each machine.
- Place the book on top of the keyboard and put them carefully in the containers
provided. If you choose not to use the BLUE containers provided while machines
are in your building, locate some appropriate containers in which keyboards
can be stored and moved. (Moving these keyboards on open carts has caused
damage and your school is responsible for replacement and repair.)
- Wash hands before and after using keyboards and avoid putting your hands
in your mouth.
- When packing up machines after each session, place the book on top of the keyboard.
- Alternate the machines by placing thick side up, then thin side.
- Once a week wash down the machines with a damp rag with windex on them or mild disinfectant.
AlphaSmart Cleaning Instructions
These instructions are meant for the students who use the machines.
As a part of learning to use the AlphaSmart, it is important to consider the care of these machines.
- Before transferring to another school, please have that last class clean and check all machines.
- Check to see that the batteries are still functioning.
- Clear all files.
- Shut the machine off before cleaning.
- Turn the machine over and gently tap the back to remove any dust particles that might have settled
between the keys.
- Take a cotton cloth and spray the cloth with a mild disinfectant such as Lysol, or Dow bathroom
cleaner.
- Finger walk each key, gently rubbing it to remove all dirt.
- Carefully clean the frame of each machine using the same cleaner.
- Take a clean rag dampened with a mild cleaning solution and wipe the screen carefully. Take another
rag and dry to remove streaks.
- Pack the blue container carefully so the keyboards arrive at the next school in good condition.
