Do the rhyme “Who stole the
cookie from the cookie jar” with the class. Using a digital camera,
take a close-up picture of each student.
|

Show them an example of the book they
will be making. Students will create the first page on the computer.
They will be instructed to use crayons to color the second page.
|
| Step 3 |
Have students open up the template.
|
| Step 4 |
Have students go to File...Import a graphic.
(Students will locate their own picture.)
|
| Step 5 |
Import their picture and place the head
on top of the shoulders. They can resize the picture by clicking and
dragging on the red dots. Remind them not to click outside of their
picture until it is in the right place.
|
| Step 6 |
Have students use eyedropper to match the
color from their face that most looks like their true skin color (a
good location would be the nose or forehead where there is no shadow).
|
| Step 7 |
Students can then click on the paint bucket
and color in the the arms.
|
| Step 8 |
Repeat the same process to color in the
rest of the shirt.
|
| Step 9 |
Click on the typewriter tool and click
inside text box at the beginning and write their name.
|
| Step 10 |
Save and print.
|
| Step 11 |
While students are waiting for their print
to come out, they can then color the second page with crayons or color
pencils.
