Lesson Plan
Purpose:
- To create an original graphic
- To use the keyboard
- To write sentences with correct punctuation and capitalization
- To open a textbox, input and edit text
Step by Step:
| Step 1 |
 |
Read the story Koala Lou, by Mem Fox
to the class.
|
| Step 2 |
Talk about the koala's sport. What sport did the author
choose for Koala Lou? Why?
|
| Step 3 |
Brainstorm ideas of different animals and
sports that would be appropriate for that animal. They could be real
sports...whales-swimming, or pretend sports....elephants-stomping
contest.
|
| Step 4 |
Open Kid Pix. Illustrate an animal of your
choice doing its favorite sport.
|
| Step 5 |
Open a Text Box. Write about your animal
character. Give it a name. Tell about the sport it does. Did your
character win? What was the prize? Who is he/she competing against?
What are the rules of this sport?
|
| Step 6 |
As students finish, make sure they
go back into their text box to edit their sentences. It can be helpful
for students to hear their sentences read aloud in order to identify
errors. When the textbox is selected, go to "Speech" and "Read Text
Aloud."
