Lesson Plan
Purpose:
- To create an original graphic using the pencil tool and others
- To use the keyboard
- To write sentences with correct punctuation and capitalization
- To write a sentence which tells about the picture
- To import their own picture into the document
Step by Step…
| Step 1 |

|
Read the story Draw Me a Star,
by Eric Carle to the class. As you are reading it, talk about the
purpose of each thing being drawn (people want a house so they can
live in it).
|
| Step 2 |
Demonstrate using the pencil tool to draw a picture.
Tell students they will be writing a sentence in which they will need
to tell why they drew it. Write the sentence starter on the board
"Draw me a star so___."
|
| Step 3 |
Encourage students to use the paint bucket
to color in their picture with colors and patterns like the book illustrator.
|
| Step 4 |
Using the typewriter tool and
the sentence starter on the board, students write a sentence telling
what they drew and what they will do with it.
|
| Step 5 |
Students open the shared folder, find
their picture, copy and paste in their document.
|
| Step 6 |
Students can add details to
their picture using stamps or other kid pix tools. (This is a great
project to print and make into a class book the students can read
in their classroom! Have students share their work with others in
the class.)
