Learning to read, write and think mathematically is a continuous developmental process that begins at birth when baby and adult begin to communicate with one another. High quality early childhood experiences build the foundation for successful learning in school and throughout life.  

Young children acquire literacy and mathematical thinking skills through frequent, meaningful, hands-on experiences in which they interact with nurturing adults in pleasurable and supportive ways.

This website is designed to provide scientifically-based research and developmentally appropriate resources in early literacy and math for early childhood care and education professionals and families with children from birth to five.
