Technology Education Standards

 

A student educated in Technology Education...

STANDARD 1: Nature of Technology Understands the concept of technology and its importance in extending human potential and how technological developments are influenced by individuals, cultures, and the environment.
STANDARD 2: System Analysis Demonstrates how components and devices operate in a system and explains why systems function as they do.
STANDARD 3: Creative Process Understands how human ingenuity and resources combine to meet human needs and wants.
STANDARD 4: Social Impact Understands the importance of predictable and non-predictable impacts of technology on society and our environment.
STANDARD 5: Technical Information Demonstrates competence in locating, using, and formatting information to accomplish specific tasks.
STANDARD 6: Tools & Equipment Demonstrates safe and correct applications, maintenance, and care of tools and equipment.
STANDARD 7: Materials Evaluates, selects, engineers, and designs materials for specific applications.
STANDARD 8: Engineering Combines various engineering principles in order to provide technical solutions for problems.
STANDARD 9: Career Development Explores career opportunities and skill requirements for occupations found in the various systems of technology.
