How Are Students Selected?

  • Targeted assistance schools serve eligible students from kindergarten through 3rd grade.

  • At schoolwide projects, students in all grades may benefit from Title I services.

  • Students are selected for supplementary instruction through Title I based on their performance on the District's Kindergarten Screener; the Primary Language Arts Assessment or the Basic Reading Inventory.

  • Typically, students who receive supplementary reading instruction through Title I are at least a half-grade-level below the average score for that grade.

  • If the number of students eligible for Title I services is greater than can be served by the Title I staff, students with the greatest need are served first.
