Career/Technical Student Organizations (CTSO)

 

Student organizations are a basic component of Career/Technical Education programs. They support and enhance both school-based and work-based learning opportunities. CTSOs enable students to achieve both academic and occupational competencies, and to build the individual student's confidence and self-esteem. The Madison Metropolitan School District has active chapters in the following CTSOs:

FFA Organization

The mission of FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. MMSD has two chapters.

Home Economics Related Occupations (HERO)

The HERO name currently remains in MMSD, even though Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is being adopted by some districts around the state. The student organization helps young men and women to become leaders, and to address important personal, family, work and societal issues through Family/Consumer Education. There are two MMSD chapters.

Skills USA-VICA emphasizes high ethical standards, superior work skills, lifelong education, pride, and dignity of work to students enrolled in Technology Education programs. A new chapter was organized in 2000-01.
