Great ideas, need money?

Attention MMSD Staff: Do you have a great idea for your school but no funds? The Foundation for Madison's Public School has returned $300,000 to our schools in grants for creative and innovative projects that are outside the regular school budget. The deadline for this year's grant applications to the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools is January 23, 2005. Please consider this wonderful opportunity to creatively enhance the educational experience for MMSD students.

Distinguished service nominations due soon

Each year the District recognizes staff, citizens and high school seniors with the Distinguished Service Award and the Joe Thomas Community Service Award for Students. These are the District's most prestigious honors. We invite the public, students and staff to nominate worthy individuals for recognition. The nomination form is available on the website or by calling 663-1964. The deadline for nominations is January 30, 2006.

Cooperating Teachers Needed

Cardinal Stritch University (CSU) is looking for exemplary MMSD elementary and middle school teachers who would be willing to work with a variety of teacher candidates over an 18 month period.

CSU is offering an initial certification graduate program entitled "Master of Arts in Teaching" (MAT) for post-baccalaureate candidates who want to become elementary or middle school teachers.

In exchange, CSU will give a voucher valid for five years for any three credit course offered by CSU in on-campus or off-campus programs.  Cooperating teachers will also be given a chance to apply for adjunct faculty status to teach courses in the MAT program.

Teachers who are interested should contact Loren Rathert in the Government Services office at 663-5266 for more information.
