Sue Laska, SEA, Huegel ES: Sue Laska has been an important team member at Huegel for many years. In her capacity as an SEA, Sue gently nurtures and guides those students with whom she comes into contact. She always has a kind word to say and a smile to share. Thank you Sue for all that you do! Eric Hegge, 2/3 multi-age teacher, Elvehjem ES: He has been a multi-age teacher for the past 7+ years. He co-teaches with a special education colleague and his classroom is inclusive for a wide range of students with special education needs. He is an active member of our Equity Team and he has done multi-age presentations for our PTO and FAST families. His sense of humor is a fantastic addition to the Elvehjem staff. He's awesome! Carol Borland, Whitehorse MS: She runs the ALC, alternative learning center, for students on behavior referrals and or in school suspensions. She is a dynamo in this role. She knows how to de-escalate situations, hold students accountable and show affection when needed. She manages situations and makes our jobs easier. Students respond to her! Students talk to her! She builds relationships with students that last beyond their middle school years. Jon Spencer, Physical Education Teacher, Memorial HS: Jon has been instrumental in guiding our growth and challenge program (ropes course,) teaching Human Relations, a variety of PE classes and is the department Chair. Jon also finds time to coach 9th grade football and this year was selected to be the head coach of the area's first girls hockey team - the Madison Lynx. Jon is a student favorite. They see him as a role model, mentor, friend and most of all a person that cares about students. Beth Shipley, Clerk Receptionist, Wright MS: This bubbly and warm personality welcomes all who come to the school. She is the keeper of all information pertaining to school events; no one dares touch her calendar! Her favorite activities are spending time with her two sweet grandkids and backing the Badgers. Pat Ertel, Kennedy ES: Pat Ertel has worked as a secretary in the Madison School District for over 30 years. She is described by staff at Kennedy Elementary as hard working, caring, professional, and a role model working with the new technology changes. On a daily basis Pat works with over 500 students and teachers at Kennedy Elementary. Congratulations to Pat Ertel, you are what makes the Madison School District so great. Scroll down for answers...
