Summary of January 4, 2006 Board of Education Meetings

Carol Carstensen, Board President

BUDGET PARTICIPATION:
Be sure to participate in the $100 budget exercise the week of January 23rd. The actual schedule is at the end.

Jan 4th Meetings (because of various holidays, the January schedule is aberrational, see below for):

5 p.m. Special Board Meeting the Board discussed different ways the district uses and can use to communicate with the public: website, email, backpack mail, Cable Channel 10, columns in the newspaper, presentations to groups, etc. We talked about the possibility of launching a district “weblog” but that would require staff to run and we don’t currently have the capability of doing it. The Board did agree that, to the extent possible, we will televise Board committee and special meetings. Lastly, the Board discussed with the administration our desire to get information several days before a decision is needed and that there be a full presentation of the arguments on all sides of an issue.

7:15 p.m. Regular Board Meeting the Board approved the membership of the Equity Task Force as follows (and the elementary attendance area of their residence):
