BOE Candidate Forum at Falk El

On Tuesday, February 14 from 6:30-8:00 p.m., the Falk PTO will be hosting a School Board Candidate Forum for the community to meet and ask questions of the candidates running for the two contested seats.

Incumbent Juan López and challenger Lucy Mathiak will be running for seat #2. In the February 21 primary for seat #1, Arlene Silveira, Maya Cole and Michael Kelly will vie for the seat being vacated by Bill Keys, who is not seeking re-election. Falk is located at 6323 Woodington Way.

Lowell School Students, Teachers, and now Parents Use the Body-Mind Connection via the 3S Smart Learning System

Since fall, teachers, students and now parents at Lowell School in grades 3-5 are learning how to create positive behaviors and emotions when confronted with conflict, stress & negative behavior, using a simple, cost effective system for improving the educational/home environment. 3S was designed for Lowell School and the MMSD by Jinendra, CEO-Director, Center for Sustainable Happiness, San Mateo, CA to support one of Lowell's School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals.

3S Smart Learning System is in the grant development & research phase at Lowell School with Jinendra, MMSD, Dr. Richard J. Davidson, neuroscientist and Director, Waisman Laboratory for Brain Imaging & Behavior, UW-Madison, and a Madison area nonprofit educational research organization.

A new 20-hour 3S Smart Learning System — parent & teacher training class taught by Jinendra will begin January 16-20 & 23-27 at Lowell School in the Aud., 6 — 8 p.m. on each evening with childcare provided for parents. Teachers may earn 2.0 MMSD-PAC. Parents/teachers are permitted to pay via post-dated checks due at first class. Significant discounts available by enrolling in groups of 2, 3, 4 or more! Partial scholarships are obtainable; Payment plans require approval.
