Retirement News — If You're Thinking About It or Saving for It

If you are considering retiring this year or at the end of this school year, please schedule an appointment with Sharon Hennessy in Benefits to discuss your retirement benefits with the district and complete the appropriate paperwork. Call 663-1795 or 663-1697.

Retirement Deadlines
For a retirement letter and forms received in Human Resources:

  • Administrators by January 15, 2006
  • Teachers by February 15, 2006
  • All others, no later than two weeks prior to retirement

Wisconsin Retirement System Presentation
To help you better understand the Wisconsin Retirement System and related benefits, the Department of Employee Trust Funds conducts presentations throughout the state in the Spring and Fall.

The next meeting in Madison is on Thursday, February 23, 2006. The presentation is from 7 to 9 p.m. and is at the Memorial High School Auditorium. No reservations are required.

New TSA limits for 2006
The Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) contribution limit has been increased by $1,000.

In 2006 you can now contribute $15,000 on a pre-tax basis to your TSA account.

If you are over 50, you can contribute an additional $5,000, also on a pre-tax basis.

To change your TSA contribution, contact Payroll at 663-5380 or 663-5373.
