The MMSD home page (http://www.mmsd.org) reached a milestone recently when it received its 5 millionth visit on January 24.

The counter has been keeping track of visitors to the site since August, 1996, shortly after the web site itself came into existence. It took a little over 6 years for the first million visits to be recorded; the last million hits came in just 8 months.

The web has become a very different place over the last 10 years. The MMSD home page continues to be a source of timely information for an ever-expanding audience. Now the information is delivered not only through text and graphics, but also through streaming audio and video.

The next 5 million visits can't be too far away!
