Language Arts coordinator Mary Watson Peterson also honored

Mary Watson Peterson, MMSD's Coordinator of Language Arts, received the Wisconsin State Reading Association's Outstanding Administrator Award at an event in Milwaukee on February 2. Watson Peterson has guided the Madison district in adopting a consistent literacy philosophy and theory grounded in research-based best practices. Her leadership establishes a productive, creative environment where resource teachers collaborate to design cohesive, district-wide literacy staff development. Watson Peterson's progressive, innovative thinking and visionary leadership have elevated the professionalism of teachers and have resulted in higher achievement for Madison students. WSRA is an organization of over 3,000 literacy teachers, administrators, professors and reading specialists in Wisconsin.
