Five MMSD principals chosen for leadership project

Principals Nancy Evans — Wright MS, Anne Fischer — Affiliated Alternatives, Sandy Gunderson — Mendota El., Alan Harris — EHS, and Lisa Kvistad — Lowell El. have been selected along with 25 other Wisconsin principals for the Wisconsin Urban Schools Leadership Project.

Funded by the Wallace Foundation, the project creates structured opportunities for urban principals to:

  • contribute to the development of a national model of exemplary urban school leadership, and
  • engage in structured opportunities to work with principals from other Wisconsin urban school districts and with university faculty to improve learning for the students in their schools.

These principals — called Wallace Fellows II — join four other MMSD principals who were chosen last year to participate in this project. The four principals who are in their second and final year in the project are

  • Linda Allen, Chavez El.
  • Sheila Briggs, Schenk El.
  • Ed Holmes, WHS and
  • Mary Kelley, Black Hawk MS.

The project is offered under the leadership of the WI Department of Public Instruction.
