News and information for staff members and the Madison community
Vol. II No. 1 - October 19, 2006
The implementation of Infinite Campus has been a success. While experiencing the highs and lows a project of this magnitude can reasonably expect to encounter, the benefits have outweighed the concerns. Over 2,000 staff members have been trained on Campus since May. While the majority of new "users" of this student information system are teachers, intense use is most common among school secretaries, guidance counselors, student services staff, and principals.
School office staff managed through the enrollment and registration process in late August. Guidance staff went through an intense period of adjusting student schedules at the beginning of the year. Teachers at all levels have taken attendance online since the first day of the school year and most recently middle and high school teachers have posted mid-term progress grades.
This is a year of "firsts" as each aspect of what traditionally occurs in schools is Campus "initiated." Training continues "just enough, just in time" for these tasks with regularly scheduled training sessions. School based contacts and district support staff are working hard and collaboratively to make sure issues are resolved quickly.
There is a parent "portal" module to Campus that is set to be deployed sometime during the second semester. There are significant information security issues that must be established prior to that step. As these procedures are put in place, more information about the portal rollout will be provided.
Overall, we are well on our way!
