Laura Mueller, 2nd grade SAGE teacher, Muir
Elementary
Laura is an exceptional teacher and a tremendously positive human being.
She is passionate about teaching and student learning. She sees the very
best in every child. Children really grow and develop as learners and as
people under her direction and care. She is a true leader and an
inspiration to all of us at John Muir.
(Laura is featured in an article about medical devices in the October 16
edition of Forbes magazine. Due to the success of a new
cancer treatment method — radio-frequency ablation — Laura's
cancer has been in remission for 20 months.)
Sharon Potrykus, 2nd Grade Teacher, Lowell
Elementary
Sharon is an educator who truly goes the extra mile for her students.
She is committed to Lowell School and to the families with whom she
works. Sharon is an outstanding mentor for student teachers and her
positive attitude is appreciated by all. You can always find Sharon
greeting children with a smile and she always teaches from the heart.
Ron Bittner, Cluster teacher, Affiliated
Alternatives
Ron is the Cluster teacher at Affiliated Alternatives. As such - he works
with some of the most challenging middle school youths from across our
district. He has worked closely with staff and students from each of our
middle schools. Ron takes great pride in being able to accelerate student
learning as he prepares struggling middle schoolers to return to their home
schools or prepare for high school. Students demonstrate a great sense of
pride in their behavioral and academic success they experience in Ron's
class.
Jean Hinkel, SEA, Leopold School.
Jean avails herself of opportunities to increase her knowledge about
instructional strategies and child development. She incorporates this
knowledge into her practice. Everyone knows that they can count of Jean to
be flexible and positive even in the most hectic times. Parents, students
and staff appreciate Jean's many contributions to the success of some of
our most challenged learners.
Tim Rietman, security assistant, East High
Tim Rietman exemplifies an employee who cares first and foremost about
kids. His responsiblities are safety and security at East High.
However, his commitment is to building relationships with students,
supporting staff and always looking for the next thing that can be done
to make East High, safe, caring and exemplary. The students and staff
at East are most fortunate to have Tim Rietman as a member of the team.
Deb Hosking, Health Assistant, Sennett
Most of us enjoy a little tender loving care when we are ill or
injured. Sennett is fortunate to have Deb Hosking in the Health Office
to administer that care! She treats student (and staff) boo-boos with
compassion and gentleness that is hard to match. She also is a
proponent of Sennett's general health and wellness.
