MMSD early childhood staff members Ruth Reinl and Rita Kehl recently participated in the Dane County Parent Council's (DCPC) biannual professional development training for 109 Head Start teachers and teacher assistants. Ruth shared information on second language acquisition and suggested strategies for supporting preschool English language learners in the Head Start classroom. Rita Kehl (pictured) presented information on the developmental stages of writing for young children and provided strategies on how to encourage writing through play.
