Friends of MSCR announces 2007 grants

On December 18, 2006, the Friends of MSCR Board members held a special event for MSCR staff to announce Friends grant awards totaling $7,135 for MSCR programs.

The money will purchase much needed storage equipment and furnishings for five different Safe Haven childcare programs, funding for staff development, and an additional $3,000 dedicated to the purchase of sports league registration software.

Friends of MSCR is a non-profit organization that supports and values MSCR. Friends supports public recreation as an approach to enrich the lives of individuals and the community.

The Board members are a group of volunteers who worked hard to raise money for these grants, and to build an endowment with the Madison Community Foundation. A major source of fundraising comes from the annual Fore Friends Golf Outing. This year's outing is scheduled for July 20.

MSCR thanks all the members of the Board: Tim Satterfield - President, Jill Cohen - Vice President, Peter Walmarth - Treasurer, Linda Hughes, Elizabeth Kelly, Terri Read, Gary Sisler and Harvey Wendell for their hard work and dedication.

The Friends of MSCR grants are:

  • Allis Safe Haven - Computer and Office Suite Software ($814)
  • Falk Safe Haven - Mobile Storage Island ($470)
  • MSCR Arts - Art Display Panels ($400)
  • Mendota Safe Haven - Maxi-Mobil Fold and Lock Supply Cabinet and tall storage ($1152)
  • Middle School Social - Safety Needs ($1743)
  • Glendale Safe Haven - 2 couches, 2 bean bags and a rug ($655)
  • MSCR Staff Development - awards ($700)
  • MSCR Annual Awards Celebration ($1200)
  • Sports Online Registration Software ($3000)

MSCR is grateful for all "friends" of MSCR — those who have donated money, services and goods throughout the past year.
