The new school name: now's the time to give feedback
|
The suggested names for the new elementary school in Linden Park are all in, and until March 21 you can provide feedback online about the 39 suggested names. The last day for proposals to name the new school was February 23. These are the submitted, eligible names for the elementary school:
The public is invited to provide reactions to these names. Through Wednesday March 21 you can make comments about each of the suggested names by going to http://www.mmsd.org/topics/newschool/ and clicking on the name about which you wish to comment. Also in this time period, students at seven MMSD middle schools are doing research and giving their own opinions about the suggested names. In addition, the public is invited to make comments to the Board of Education at a public hearing specifically about the suggested names for the new school in the Linden Park area. The public hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 19, 2007 in the Doyle Administration Building, 545 W. Dayton St. The tentative time is 6:30 p.m., but subject to change. Click here to see the current start time. All these reactions, opinions and recommendations will be brought forward in a process that culminates with the Board of Education making a decision on the name. That date is tentatively set for April 16. Meanwhile, prep work continues and the architectural plans are being finalized so that the construction project can go out for bids to general contractors. If all goes as planned, ground for the new school will be broken in late April or early May. Return to MMSD Today |
