Winston re-elected; Cole, Moss to join school board

School Board President Johnny Winston, Jr. was re-elected and Maya Cole and Beth Moss were elected to replace Ruth Robarts and Shwaw Vang, who chose not to seek re-election. Winston carried 67% of the vote, easily defeating challenger Tom Brew, a former Dane County supervisor.

Cole, who narrowly lost to Arlene Silveira in last year's BOE election, defeated former Madison teacher Marj Passman with 53% of the vote. Moss bested opponent Rick Thomas with nearly 65% of the votes cast.

The new BOE members will be sworn in Monday, April 23.
