Howard Landsman, Grants and Fund Development Coordinator
|
DSA Award Recipient — AdministratorsAfter eleven short years, Grants and Fund Developer, Howard Landsman will retire, having amassed nearly 40 million dollars in new revenue for our schools. Named Fundraising Professional of the Year in 2000, Howard's track record of success comes from his direct involvement in the community. The Urban League, Arts Wisconsin, UMOJA magazine are among the many benefactors of his time and personal philanthropy. As a founder of both Community Shares and the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools, Howard laid the groundwork for growth in local giving and inspired so many others to share his vision for the future of Madison's public schools. By streamlining the District's mini-grant program, he encouraged staff to think outside the budget, tap into other funding and broaden our capacity for serving children. His Dreamkeepers program helps sustain the District's vast store of creative energies among personnel. For many, he has planted the seeds of charitable giving. He organized building captains for employee giving campaigns and filled more than a few tables at the Foundation's annual Circle of Friends luncheon, giving of himself without hesitation or fanfare. A self-described "grant developer by profession — community organizer at heart," Howard has shown us why giving and receiving, like breathing out and breathing in, is the life force of an organization.
