Rockwell Award Nominations Sought for Outstanding Cooperating Teachers

Do you know an outstanding cooperating teacher? The Roland and Ruth Rockwell Awards provide an opportunity to bring recognition to that person. Four awards of $1000 will be given to teachers selected for their contribution to the UW-Madison field experience program. The award recipients will be honored at the annual University of Wisconsin School of Education Partners in Education Banquet on Tuesday, April 16, 2007 at the Monona Terrace. Last year's recipients were Jane Behrens, Cherokee Middle School, Elizabeth Briles, Franklin Elementary School, Phil Dreis, Whitehorse Middle School, and William O'Neal, Jefferson Middle School, Madison Area School District.

Cooperating teachers may be nominated by their administrators, peers, university faculty and supervisors or former student teachers. In the past, former student teachers' letters have been particularly persuasive. Nomination materials may be obtained at the EAS website: http://www.education.wisc.edu/eas/share_dir/rockwell/rockwell_awards.htm, by calling Valli Warren, Education Academic Services, 262-3773, or by picking them up in B117 Education Building. Completed nomination packets should be mailed to: Rockwell Nominations, Education Academic Services, B117 Education Building, 1000 Bascom Mall, Madison, WI 53706.
