Who's Who Mascots

We're continuing on with matching school mascots for Who's Who.

Check back next month as we begin another round of the "original" Who's Who with photos of staff and descriptions of the great things they do for our schools!

This month there are six pictures of elementary and middle school mascots along with a description about what each mascot means to its school. Can you match the mascots to the school?

The six mascots this month are from Mendota, Muir, Randall and Marquette Elementary Schools and Hamilton and Whitehorse Middle Schools. Answers are given below.

The Mustangs
The Mustangs mascot was chosen by the students at the same time the school colors were chosen. The school has a big mural on the wall by the office of the Mustang in purple and black. The mascot gallops right along.
The Hawk
The Hawk may be seen on the wall of the school's gymnasium as well as featured on a clothing line sold annually by the student council. The Hawk featured on sweatshirts was designed by an art teacher at the school.
The Jaguars
The Jaguars symbolize the strength, spirit of the school. Like the jaguar, students are powerful and full of life. The jaguar is proudly displayed on sweatshirts and tee shirts.
The Bear Claw
The bear claw mascot is representative of the Winnebago clan of the Ho Chunk nation. The school has the claws painted on the sidewalk in front of school and on t-shirts. Every year a class repaints the claws. Many students think we should have a white horse as out mascot, but the claw is in honor of school's namesake.
Raccoon
"Our Raccoon does not eat trash, nor does it talk trash, that would never do at our school!" You can see many raccoons around: school t-shirts and sweatshirts have the raccoon, you can see raccoons on quilts made by past classes and a paper mache raccoon sits by the window in the teachers lounge. For many years, a raccoon perched in an attic window.
Timber wolves
The Timber wolf mascot began at this school in 1994. It was chosen because it is a loyal animal group that takes care of each other - just as the school community does. There is a Timber wolf painted on the wall at the main entrance of the school and it is also printed on t-shirts.
