Linda Smulka, Muir Elementary
Linda Smulka has been a kindergarten teacher at John Muir School for 23
years. Each year, she develops a positive, caring, classroom community
where children grow and learn together. Her kindergartners are eager to
come to school each day. She is loved and respected by children and their
families. Linda Smulka will be retiring this year. We will remember her
strong advocacy for kindergardeners and her devotion to all the students
at John Muir School.
Amy Edge, Lindbergh Elementary
Amy Edge has taught a multi-aged grade 2/3 classroom at Lindbergh School
for several years. She has built a strong collaborative team with grade
level classroom teachers and several resource staff to provide a flexible
and supportive learning environment. Amy's classroom is warm and inviting,
and children want to do their best for her. Amy has a passion for
developing writing skills in her students, and has brought out the best in
many excellent authors.
Susie Hobart, Lake View Elementary
Susie Hobart is a critical part of what makes Lake View a great school.
She focuses on community in both her 4th grade classroom and in our school.
It is Susie who coordinates our student senate, plans our Earth Day event
at Warner Park and has organized the school around support of a community
center in the Ukraine. She has also written grants resulting in cordless
microscopes and heading toward making Lake View a wireless school. Her
boundless energy and vision are cornerstones to making Lake View a global
and high-tech community.
Tracey Bell, Thoreau Elementary
Tracey Bell is an outstanding Special Education Assistant. She cares
greatly about the children and expects them to meet high standards both
academically and behaviorally. She is dependable, reliable and dedicated.
We are fortunate to have her on the Thoreau staff!
Stacie MacWilliams, Gompers Elementary
Stacie has worked at Gompers as a 4/5 under a temporary contract for a 4th
grade teacher who is on educational leave. You would not know that Stacie
is new to us this year. She demonstrates confidence, competence, and
caring. She brings energy and humor to her classroom and is a vital and
contributing member to our 4/5th grade team. She voluntarily has a
homework club after school, and has been a vital and contributing member of
our Leadership Team. We are very lucky to have Stacie with us.
Kristina Whiting, Jefferson Middle
Kristina Whiting teaches 7th grade Math and Social Studies at Jefferson.
It seems like she is an integral part of every initiative and team that
Jefferson is involved with. She has taken the lead in the Mathematics
Professional Development Impact Study,and she is a member of the school
Leadership, Equity, and Safety committees as well. She is everywhere at
Jefferson, and her leadership is greatly appreciated!
