Vol. II No. 7 - May 3, 2007
The Board of Education gave preliminary approval to the 2007-08 district budget at the end of a six hour meeting that began on April 30 and ended after midnight. The time was consumed by discussion and votes on motions that both passed and failed.
In the end the whole budget was approved by a 6-1 vote, with Lucy Mathiak dissenting.
The budget authorizes a $339 million budget that includes cuts of $7.9 million dollars from the current budget due to state revenue limits. The budget is preliminary until October every year when student enrollment numbers and state funding are finalized.
The Board made a number of changes to the Superintendent's recommended
reductions of $7.9 million. This was accomplished through add backs and
cuts developed and approved during the April 30 meeting. These are
summarized in a document which you can see
by clicking here. ![[PDF File] [PDF File]](/img/pdf-sm.gif)
The Superintendent's recommended reductions from which the Board worked are on page 5 of this document. All recommended reductions which were not altered by the Board's actions on April 30 will be implemented.
