Barb Adam, Hawthorne ES
Barb Adam has been an educational assistant at Hawthorne for the past 12 years. Barb supports our kindergarten students during language arts instruction. She assists the students with their word work and interactive writing. Barb really knows how to engage children; you should read the stories they write! Barb provides intervention for kindergarten students through the "Rock and Read" program. Barb has also led the Hawthorne FAST program for the past eight years, which holds a tremendous track record and reputation.

Kim Gary, East HS
Kim Gary is the head counselor at East High School. Her commitment and enthusiasm for students is contagious. Kim is an exceptional counselor who works many extra hours to meet the needs of all students. In addition, she coordinates the guidance office, supports other counselors, directs all of the East High Scholarships annually and takes the time to arrange for academic support for her students who need it. The students who have Ms. Gary as their counselor speak often about the difference she makes for them. That is the truest testament of her work.

Bill Rettig, Heugel ES
Bill Rettig has been an LMC Director with MMSD for 19 years. He was at Thoreau for 2 years, at Hawthorne for 6 years, and has been at Huegel for 11 years now. He dazzles our students with his puppet shows and storytelling. We are grateful for all of his contributions to our school.

Oscar Rodriguez, Cherokee MS
Oscar Rodriguez works as a bilingual resource specialist, supporting students whose first language is Spanish. He is a consummate professional: committed, flexible, inventive, industrious, and studious. Rodriguez is currently a student at Edgewood College, pursing a degree in education.

Jeanne Kral, Memorial HS
Jeanne is the Peer Tutoring Coordinator at Memorial High School. In addition to her responsibilities in the Career Resource Center, she organizes, places, and is responsible for the many peer and adult tutors that help our students daily. This year alone we had 360 tutoring requests and she coordinated over 100 peer tutors and 16 volunteer adult tutors. Tutors are recognized and accepted as important constituents in our school community. Our goal is to help every student who wants help. Jeanne makes that all happen and is a valuable member of our JMM team.

Vince Busenbark, Emerson Elementary
Vince Busenbark has worked at Emerson for many moons. His quick wit and signature laugh brings beautiful smiles on students and staff daily. Vince brings to Emerson immense technological skills and the love of learning. Students are continuously engaged with high interest discussions and projects 5th graders love. Vince designs his inclusive classroom and curriculum around students to ensure each child is continuously striving for their next level of challenge. There is never a dull moment in Mr. B's room. He makes learning fun.
