Seven New Aristos Scholars Named

Seven new Scholars were selected to join the Aristos Scholars Academy. All seven were previous Aristos grant recipients who implemented their grants in an exemplary manner.

There are 21 Aristos Scholars this year. Each serves a three-year term. Scholars recently participated in a two-day retreat (pictured) that included study and discussion of educational policy issues, district data, qualities of star teachers, gender differences in student performance, the English-As-A-Second Language/bilingual program, and discussions with the superintendent and elementary and secondary assistant superintendents. The Aristos Grants and Scholars Program is supported by a grant from the Rennebohm Foundation.

The seven new Aristos Scholars are:

• Susan Deming, Glendale Elementary
• Jeff Hattori, Sherman Middle
• Ginny Kester, West High
• Jan Lorch, Memorial High
• Phonekeo Siharath, La Follette High
• David Wasserman, Sennett Middle
